FTC’s Complaint Assistant: we’re going mobile

If a business doesn’t deliver on its promises or someone cheats you out of your money, the Federal Trade Commission wants to hear about it. Our new Mobile Complaint Assistant at makes it possible to file a complaint using your smartphone or tablet. Like the desktop version, the mobile assistant asks a few questions related to your complaint, and invites you to tell us what happened. You decide how much personal information to share. Every complaint is entered into a secure online database that the FTC and our law enforcement partners use to spot trends and build cases.

So now, if you get a letter that claims you won a prize, a call from a debt collector that just doesn’t ring true, or a credit card charge you didn’t agree to, go to on your mobile device and let us know. By the way, if you placed your phone number on the Do Not Call list and you’re still getting telemarketing calls you don’t want, report it at And to stay a step ahead of the latest schemes, sign up for our scam alerts.

On 22/04/2014 I ordered a trial use of Dr Ho TENS machine from TVshop Port Melbourne, costing a refundable $19.99. I returned the machine one week later and followed the journey to its destination via a Post Office Tracking Number. I notified TVshop that the goods were being returned, and I was offered a large discount if I retained the machine. I declined. On both 4/06/2014 and 29/06/2014 $64.00 was withdrawn from my credit card account. Tvshop rang me and insisted that unless I submitted my tracking number and my post office receipt to them I would be forced to pay a total of $340.00 to them as they had not received the TENS MACHINE.
A week after the Tracking Number announced that the parcel arrived at its destination,I destroyed the number.
I did not have a post office receipt for I used my own stamps.
Yesterday I received a letter from Brand Developers
Aust. Pty Ltd. threatening me with "Collections Actions" unless response is received within 21 days.
They did not ask for the Tracking Number until 3 months after the return of the Tens machine!!!!!

The general Post Office in Perth stated that my complaint is voiced by many clients each day, but most people do not know where to complain.
May I thank you in anticipation of a helpful reply.

You can file a consumer complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at Sharing your experience in this blog is good because it helps others learn from it, but it is not a formal complaint. Watch this video to learn more about how to file a complaint with the FTC and why it matters.

Please be wary of any telephone call that says they are the IRS and asks for personal information! The call comes from area code 716. They will not name your name, but they will ask you to call them back and they will give you a "case number" to refer to when calling back.

This dose not work ..3270

I don't know if this is the right area to complain about a mortgage service problem , but here goes: This company was completely at fault when they began to but tripped over there own feet during a foreclosure attempt on our home. then they tried to undo there mistake at all the CC agencies via the standard form ltr to us and them... After more than a year (90-120) days waiting and calling the State of Nv Dept. of Business and Industry are in the middle again. I make this true statement of never late ever , so where is an aggressive attorney to help.

Received two calls, which I let go to voice mail. When I listened to the message the caller identified herself as from the IRS and said that I needed to call her back asap on a matter that was time sensitive. The call back number was 415-735-7107. Both calls had the same message. I know the IRS does not call people. I wanted to report this as I am certain it is some sort of scam.

Thanks for sharing your experience. You can also file a complaint with the FTC. It's important to submit a complaint because investigators from all over the country access the FTC's complaint database.Scammers often use names, phone numbers, addresses and legal-sounding language to try and make you believe they are legitimate. However, the IRS will never call you to threaten you. That’s a sign that this is a scam
