Weight loss double-talk

Many people would give just about anything to eat like a Sumo wrestler, yet have the body of a tennis pro. And, unfortunately, many people have — given their money, that is — for pills and products falsely promising significant weight loss with little or no effort.

The FTC recently took action against a company for marketing, distributing and selling Double Shot, a dietary supplement that the company claims causes substantial weight loss without the need for changes in diet and exercise. Ads for Double Shot “guaranteed” people would “lose a minimum of 20 pounds per week,” even though the company did no research or analysis to support these claims. The ads explicitly say Double Shot’s two different pills would “do all the work,” — the blue pill “tracking down and eliminating” existing fat with the red pill “reducing up to 90 percent” of calories users take in.

If you find yourself trusting ads that imply you can have your cake, eat two more — and still lose weight — do a gut check. Any claims of quick, easy and permanent weight loss without changing your habits just aren’t true, and some products could even hurt your health. Experts say modifying your diet and exercising more are the keys to successful weight loss.

And have fun finding out how much you really know about safe and effective weight loss by playing the FTC’s new Weight Loss Challenge game.

20 pounds a week is not even believable. I'm not terribly hopeful that people who believe a claim like that can be protected from their poor choices.

Healthy weight loss can even be achieved without dieting provided some persistent lifestyle changes are made.

1) Eat small meals every two to three hours. In that way you keep your metabolism working and prevent overeating at the next meal. Active metabolism leads to burning of more calories and healthy weight loss.

2) Eat slowly. It takes about 20 minutes for the satiety impulse to arrive in the brain.

3) Keep a food diary. Note down whatever you eat entire day and review the list before going for bed.

4) Do some kind of exercise for at least 30 minutes every day. That could be as simple as walking with moderate pace.

Well written..funny and educational. This says what we all should know..there's no quick fix (but I've still tried them all)

This is SOO VERY TRUE!!! There is absolutely no quick fix when it comes to losing weight!!!! U have to change ur way of eating!! Plain & simple
