“Free” products weren’t really free

The story: a company says its product will help you lose weight without diet changes or exercise, and you can try it free — 100% satisfaction guaranteed.

The reality: the company can’t support — or deliver on — those weight loss claims. If you give your credit or debit account number, you get charged $60 to $210 every month — and it’s almost impossible to get a refund. On top of that, you get enrolled in offers you didn’t ask for — with more monthly charges.

Add it all up, and you’ll understand the FTC’s case against Health Formulas, LLC and its network of companies. The companies advertised products from skin creams and “green coffee bean” weight loss supplements to virility and muscle-building products. Ads ran in print, online, on radio and TV.

According to the FTC, the companies used “buy-one-get-one-free” promotions or offered a free month’s supply for a small shipping and handling fee to persuade people to hand over their account information. Once they did, the FTC says, the company started charging them every month — not just for the original product, but for other products they hadn’t agreed to buy. Despite a “100% satisfaction guarantee,” people found the quest for a refund an exercise in frustration.

The FTC has information about “free trial” programs — and the hidden charges that might come with them. Before you try a new weight loss product, read Weighing the Claims in Diet Ads.

this is bogus.... haven't gotten anything but once and this company keeps taking $89.99 where do people get away with doing this.

I don't know what product this is but I never ordered anything from this company but they took 94.99. So I will go to my bank. I will be reporting them.

Total scam .. paid 5.95 and 7.95 shipping .. 2 weeks later 2 charges each for 98$ totaling over 200$ ripoff!!! Green Body Garcinia SCAM SCAM SCAM

It happend to me too. They charged my card twice at the same week. Stay away from these people!!!

I am going through the same thing. Ive been charged twice for 89.67. My credit card company says that they have a response from this company and are saying the charges are valid. I cant get a phone number to contact these people. How do I stop them? I did not authorize these charges and my credit card company is believing them. Not me. HELP

I could not find contact information to contact the company either but when I contacted my credit card company, they supplied me with the number of the company so I was able to contact them immediately. They were not happy that I had contacted my bank but were willing to try and resolve the charges and to cancel anything further that I did not order.

i can t getahold of them they are taking money from my checking acc

I thought I was receiving a free sample of the Keto weight loss product and just had to pay $4.95 for shipping & handling. Before I could pay for the Keto pills I was directed to a screen to purchase a second item I didn't want. I could not refuse it nor could I pay for the first item unless I paid shipping on the 2nd item Mango Cleanse. As it was less than $6 I paid for both even though I didn't want the second item.
I just found out 6 weeks later that I was charged $85.90 for the Keto pills and $94.90 for the Mango Cleanse pills even though I didn't want them at all and I thought the sample shipment was free just pay postage.
Nowhere was there anything about being autobilled for future shipments or how much those shipments would cost.
I found out yesterday that I've been billed twice now, once 2 weeks after the original "free" samples and then this week for another shipment. That is over $365. I called and they refused to refund anything. I called my bank and they will try to get the money back.
This is the most unethical business practice I've ever encountered. This company should be sued into bankruptcy. This is highway robbery and exploitation of people who are utterly vulnerable.

Same here… I ordered a free trial bottle and they charged me 90+ dollars the next week. I canceled the order through my Apple Pay card and they continue to try and hit it for different dollar amounts… So far nothing has gone through. It’s a huge scam

The same thing has just happened to me,I ordered what I understood was a free trial which at the time cost me around f10 but now have seen that they are taking two payments each for
£81.63 .I have contacted my bank and the company but don’t seem able to stop the payments.

Sadly Magmar Juice Muscle and Mature Aim Allevora posted fraudulent transactions to my card right before Christmas. Had to cancel it and dispute transactions during busiest time of the year! Will take two weeks+ to get replacement card. Imho, avoid these vendors!!!

I too have just encountered the same problem. Called my credit card company and spoke to fraud Dept in Nov. 2020. Today 12/29 received packet from bank. Cant read the 11 pages behind the cover letter even with magnifying glass, but bank said company claims I ordered and I'm now obligated to pay. Finally got company on line & they canceled my order, but told me that since I didn't call in 5 days they billed me the full amount, even though they only sent a sample amount. The fact that the 2nd item, not wanted, wasn't received, they said they'd do nothing since it's past the 5 days. I've been fortunate to have other credit cards, so called bank and said goodbye after 30 years carrying the card. Life's too short and the bank listens to the thieves regardless of all complaints documented.

Where is a phone number for this company? Trying to cancel out of something they put me in automatically.

I got scammed but not diet pills. I received this link from a friend for this new product our local department store was selling. I was to get it for just $11.95 shipping. They sent me the stuff alright...the charge was from beauty 360...then a week later I was hit twice for $94 and $97 from WHOS 4 HEALTH. Neither charge went thru since I was at my limit...Thank God!!! Please no one else fall for this! So glad I am not out anymore than the shipping. But now how can I trust to use this creme and serum???

I didn't see anything about having to cancel in x amount of days or I would be charged full price. Now I'm being charged almost $200. Called credit card and they can't do anything about it. This is theft! I can buy the stuff on Amazon for $50, thru their deal I'm being charged $6.95 for the trial then an additional $96+ . How is this right???

I did a free trial for a supplement it was under $10 in total. But now I just got charged for 2 items over $200! I never seen a cancel after 30 days or anything though. My biggest issue is they don't have a website that I can just go to and say cancel so I'm emailing and calling trying to get ahold of someone to cancel whatever it is and fix my bank as I'm now in the negative. I also don't work as I'm an epileptic so this is extremely crucial that it gets fixed for me. I've certainly learned my lesson to never ever buy these things again though.

My moms account has been charged twice by these scammers and she never ever given her permission to charge her, and never has been on their website!! Two charges of 99, 94!
