“I know about the secret you are keeping from your wife and everyone else. You can ignore this letter, or pay me a $8600 confidentiality fee in Bitcoin”.

It’s enough to send shivers down anyone’s spine, but these chilling words are part of a new scam targeting men.

Here’s how it works. Scammers have been sending letters to men, demanding payments using bitcoin in exchange for keeping quiet about alleged affairs. The letter also explains how to use bitcoin to make the payment.

This is a criminal extortion attempt to separate people from their money.

If you — or someone you know — gets a letter like this, report it immediately to your local police, and the FBI.

Threats, intimidation and high-pressure tactics are classic signs of a scam. Learn how to stay ahead of clever crooks with these practical tips, and check out the ways you can keep your personal information secure.

I got a email in my junk saying that they had access to my account and personal information and that i had been infected by a Trojan virus. They asked for $799 in 50 hrs (2 days) delivered to a Bitcoin account or send a embarrassing video they claimed to have recorded.
What should i do?

JUST GOT 10 COPIES OF THIS:
Hey, I know your password is: ......... (PASSWORD WAS ONE OF MINE)

Your computer was infected with my malware, RAT (Remote Administration Tool), your browser wasn't updated / patched, in such case it's enough to just visit some website where my iframe is placed to get automatically infected, if you want to find out more - Google: "Drive-by exploit".

My malware gave me full access and control over your computer, meaning, I got access to all your accounts (see password above) and I can see everything on your screen, turn on your camera or microphone and you won't even notice about it.

I collected all your private data and I RECORDED YOU (through your webcam) SATISFYING YOURSELF!
After that I removed my malware to not leave any traces.
THIS CONTINUES WITH:
Transfer exactly 1200$ with the cryptocurrency Monero (XMR) to my Monero (XMR) address. You can easily buy Monero (XMR) here: www. anycoindirect. eu/en/buy- monero , www. bitnovo. /buy- monero- online-en , www. localmonero. Google for other exchanger.
You can send the Monero (XMR) directly to my address, or create your own wallet first here: www. mymonero. , or here: www. cryptonator. , www. freewallet. , then receive and send to mine.
It's a very good offer, compared to all that horrible shit that will happen if I publish everything! My Monero (XMR) address is: 4BrL51JCc9NGQ71kWh nYoDRffsDZy7m1HUU7MRU4nUMXAHN FBEJhkTZV9HdaL4 gfuNBxLPc3BeMkL GaPbF5vWtANQubDtN q5uuC622w4we

I KNEW IMMEDIATELY THAT THERE WAS NO VIDEO OF ME, BUT DIDN"T KNOW IF THEY HAD GOTTEN INTO MY COMPUTER SINCE I HAVE MANY PASSWORDS AND THAT WAS ONE.

WOULD SO LIKE TO SEE THIS ATTEMPTED EXTORTION PROSECUTED! NEEDS A NICE LENGTHY STAY IN A GOVERNMENT FACILITY... PREFERABLY BY HIMSELF!

This article may need to be updated. Received one of these. My local police department said if I wasn't actually out any money (I'm not), there is nothing for them to do.

10/7/18 Received another email demanding 900$ in bitcoin.
Said they "collected all your private data and recorded you through your webcam "Satisfying yourself". I don't have a webcam on my computer. But it makes me nervous that they have an old password. Said I had 2 days to send the bitcoins to them at the following address:
1LfYcbCsssB2niF3VWRBTVZFExzsweyPGQ

These people are sick. Too bad they have to resort to this kind of extortion. I guess after reading other peoples emails about this, I will call our local police department and will forward to FBI.

Received the following yesterday from one Kendall Ramirez. I have not responded because I know it is a scam, but I want to report it anyway:

Hello!

I am a hacker who has access to your operating system.
I also have full access to your account.

I've been watching you for a few months now.
The fact is that you were infected with malware through an adult site that you visited.

If you are not familiar with this, I will explain.
Trojan Virus gives me full access and control over a computer or other device.
This means that I can see everything on your screen, turn on the camera and microphone, but you do not know about it.

I also have access to all your contacts and all your correspondence.

Why your antivirus did not detect malware?
Answer: My malware uses the driver, I update its signatures every 4 hours so that your antivirus is silent.

I made a video showing how you satisfy yourself in the left half of the screen, and in the right half you see the video that you watched.
With one click of the mouse, I can send this video to all your emails and contacts on social networks.
I can also post access to all your e-mail correspondence and messengers that you use.

If you want to prevent this,
transfer the amount of $600 to my bitcoin address (if you do not know how to do this, write to Google: "Buy Bitcoin").

My bitcoin address (BTC Wallet) is: 38reGPj1KDLhx3Yu8QYrpMzsM43NRdC3gS

After receiving the payment, I will delete the video and you will never hear me again.
I give you 50 hours (more than 2 days) to pay.
I have a notice reading this letter, and the timer will work when you see this letter.

Filing a complaint somewhere does not make sense because this email cannot be tracked like my bitcoin address.
I do not make any mistakes.

If I find that you have shared this message with someone else, the video will be immediately distributed.

Best regards!

Just got the scam email yesterday, saying they know my password. I am a 63 year old woman. Wanted odd amount of $739 US dollars in bitcoin. Showed my son the junk email. These losers are always trying to scam me over the phone with their IRS calls with a warrant for my arrest, or some other dumb idea they come up with. Now this. Not ever getting any money outta me ever.

Thank you all so much this just happened to me and it freaked me out! Ill be changing anything with that Password. I hope they are brought to justice. So sick of these scams and breaches.

I got a email claiming that they were going to post my recent search of porn to 15 contacts of mine. To pay $700 and they even posted my last password before I changed it. And it even said it can detect if I opened it.

Ok I just realized rather than using my own email or some other crazy email the bit coin scammers used a real company, a children’s charity to send it to me aspirespecialneeds.ca but a weird email address after that. I may email them but not sure what good that will do except they may want to change it to not be associated with the scam. Strange.

I just saw mine while i was cleaning out my email. I'm a student and they sent it to my student email. I just replied with why. I know that they wont do anything. It's just kinda stupid. Like why? I haven't even visited any sites. Mine claimed to be a dark web hacker. I think it was j.j something. I just want to know why? And in bitcoin too? Why not paypal or something? It's very stupid.

I got basically the same email, wanting $1400 to be paid within 3 days. Got sex video of me on my webcam. I don't have a webcam but can't wait to see me in the sex video on YouTube as I am 80 yrs. old. I'll have to tell my friends to look for it too. Upset me that he had my password but I haven't used that one in a long time. I blocked him and deleted. Some people are such trash and thieves they will try anything.

I found a similar email in my spam folder. This scammer claimed to have a hacking program that let him use my webcam to record me watching porn and to allow downloading of all my contacts. It was the same threat, to send a video to all my contacts unless I pay thousands in Bitcoin. All that this scammer had was one of my email addresses.

Here's what happened to me.....so I guess it's not just me, I have no intention to send anything since I already know it is a scam. I will contact the FCC and the FTC....and the actual owner of the computer belongs to. As far as I know I never went to any questionable sites to deserve this.

Hello <mail@ zeadole.
Dec 3, 2019, 1:39 PM (1 day ago)
to Hello, do you remember my website you once visited? Because you were on my website, you downloaded a Trojan to your device. Well, that happens. You have to be careful which pages you visit on the internet. This Trojan has stored all your access data for your accounts, your identity, your
pictures and many other files on your device. The Trojan can also publish all your data at any time and permanently lock your device. However, I would like to give you a way to remove the Trojan from your device so that all this does not happen. Below is my request on how to remove the Trojan.

You have to pay me exactly $495 in Bitcoin within 48 hours! What is Bitcoin? Bitcoin, often described as a digital currency, is a type of money that is completely virtual. You can buy Bitcoin on these websites: Coinbase Coinmama Send exactly $495 (0,064 in Bitcoin) to this address: bc1q0zznag7qkwm8wsf dfn4gyx78u4r3aldk2u956g I give you 48 hours to send me the Bitcoins before all your data is published and your device is permanently locked! The Trojan automatically detects whether you sent me the Bitcoins or not. The Trojan will remove itself from your device, if you have successfully sent me the Bitcoins.
It won't do you any good to go to the police, they can't help you.

I got one yesterday from this email address: Elwina Chew <ixylitauhc@ Asking me to pay otherwise will embarrass me by sending e-mails to my friends and coworkers.

11/2019 i just received another of these emails... got one last year too. This one contained a QR code to scan. It's going around again! Don't fall for it. Such BS

I recently got one of these emails! Images of the email:
www. ibb. co/ WDG1xQD www. ibb. co/ PxzwSN7 It was my first time getting these emails, so I reported it to the FBI (I called them *twice*) and filed a IC3 complaint just in case. I feel better now knowing that I'm not alone but the word needs to be spread about this.

I was scammed by two bitcoin investment companies and till today no one can helo me

I am left in major debt... who can protect me from my creditors?

I have been receiving threatening email on my government email reported to FBI site. This is crazy. If they have a video realease it this way i will move pass it i am nobody. I would rather face the embarrassment.

How do you get help recovering your money after being scammed on the phone putting money in a bitcoin machine?

Just received one today, very detailed, correct English grammar, but with diacritics all over the place on top of English words. Went through a step by step process of how information is collected. Like the 70-year old who reported, I'm in my 70s, have never been to a porn site--This was upsetting. I don't have a web cam either, as the threat claimed. I had to look it up to find out whether it was the computer camera. LOL. It's not.

Got this today from: jvd@ int-dir.
ozmid I guess you're wondering why you're receiving this email right? It would be highly beneficial to your privacy if you didn't ignore it.

I have placed a Malware on an adult website (...P...0...r...n site) and as you visited and watched the video your device has been affected, placing a spyware on your machine. Which has recorded you both with webcam and screen capture while you had your "fun Time" allowing me to see exactly what you see.

This has also affected your smartphone via an exploit. So do not think for one minute you can circumvent this by reinstalling your OS. You have already been recorded.

After that my malware collected all your messengers, emails and social networks contacts. I guess this isn't good news right? But don't worry too much, there's a way we can fix this privacy issue. All i require is a Bitcoin payment of $850 which i think is a fair price considering the circumstances. The address to make the payment is: 3Bm8gYN4NwvEmYPViro 57Sgq5iaUeHX8N

If you don't understand bitcoin, go on YouTube and search for "how to buy bitcoin" or google for "localbitcoins", its pretty easy to do it. You have only 48 hours after reading this e-mail to send payment (Be warned i know when you have opened and read this email, i have placed a pixel image inside it. Which enables me to know when you have opened the messaged on exactly what day and time) If you decide to ignore this email, i will have no choice but to forward the video to all the collected contacts you have on your email account, as well as post on your social media accounts, and send as a personal message to all Facebook contacts. and of course make the video publicly available on internet, via you-tube and adult websites. considering your reputation, i highly doubt you want to be exposed to your family/friends/coworkers during this current time. You can actually go to the police, but these people will not likely do anything, the most significant stuff they can do is lock my wallet and you will deprive other people from the opportunity to pay me. So think twice before doing foolish things. If i receive payment all the material will be destroyed and you will never hear from me again. If i do not get my funds for virtually any reason, such as the inability to send cash to a blacklisted wallet – your reputation is going to be wrecked. So make it fast. Do not try to make contact with me because am using a victim email that was hacked and exposed.
If you don't believe and want proof just reply to this email with "PROOF" and i will send your video to 5 of your contacts via email, and post on your Facebook wall. In which you will be able to remove it once, not forever.

i just received 2 emails demanding bitcoin payment some how they have my bank info which will be dealing with bank during normal hours but how the hell do they gain this access saying I bought stuff on a specific date through my bank and asking for 0.0882 in bit coin translates to 8 grand usda

the bitcoin address left for me to pay "ransom" 1PBX9T3HjjT4Fv1uR4S13jQ2mT1wR9mcri email says it has my bank info and I bout some kind of Viagra online and asking for 0.0882 in bitcoin to above address and if not my contacts will know how I visit porn sites and they will release my ino

Just got one today from ksheathgd @ The bitcoin address they used was 15HjorJv19mpYKMP7Jjj59wPPPC882FAfF. Same MO. We have tracked you, hacked your camera, recorded you on porn sites, blah blah. The password they hacked and sent was years old. I update my passwords all the time and have a tape over my camera as well. I can only imagine how some people are effected by this.

Just think about it. If they had access to your computer and all of your information, couldn’t they just take what they wanted from you without asking or demanding?

I received email yesterday and threat me to send videos and photos to in email and contact etc and said he know what I been being so it’s real or just scam?

I have just received similar email. Have reported it to scam watch. Just a different bitcoin wallet number.

Got a similar email... 3 of them...

I received one of these emails today.

I have recently received 2 threading Bitcoin emails wanting 900$. But they have spoofed my email address and it looks as though it came from myself. I was sending most off my scam emails to the address spam@ uce. .gov. I guess I send so many I got an email from FTC saying I no longer need to send them to that agency. It seems nothing is being done about them...where do I send 5hem then? Thank you

I just got the exact same email. Still happening.

Here is the 2nd stupid scammer email I got today. I don't go to xxx sites and I definitely don't make videos. This is all obvious bs. I want these people to be caught. Do they ever get any consequences from emailing creepy attempts to extort money in the form of bitcoin?? So creepy.

Actually, I placed a virus on the xXx vids (sex sites) site & guess what, you visited this web site to have fun. While you were viewing videos, your web browser started working as a Remote Desktop having a keylogger which gave me accessibility to your display and also cam recording. Just after that, my software collected all your contacts from your Messenger, social networks, and email. dorasue is one of your passwords.
if you send me $988 as a donation through Bitcoin, I will erase the recording immediately. (search for in Google "how to buy bitcoin"). my BTC Address: 3G3wdmWyhieLAiLgL JRyKEWfG8sY7M86xw You have one day in order to pay. If I do not get the BitCoins, I will definately send your video to all of your contacts. MEDt

I received an email today requesting “1128$” they wanted it via bitcoin. They do have an old password that I use to use as well. The email address they used was: Walker@

I just got one today. What worries me is how have they got my OLD password. How is that possible. I just wrote back and said they have been reported and that’s it.

I got a threatening email saying they had my password and i was to send them bitcoin, I don't even know what bitcoin is, It was from a Garrett Tryon. BEWARE.... it is so ridiculous and upsetting how people are exploiting people.

Hello everyone, I just received the very first Bitcoin blackmail a few hours ago and a quick online search brought me to this site. I hate the fact that someone out there is trying to take advantage of someone else! FYI, and hoping that somehow it can help others, I am pasting below the email:

I know, xxxxxxxx, is your password. You don't know me and you're thinking why you received this e mail, right? Well, I actually placed a malware on the porn website and guess what, you visited this web site to have fun (you know what I mean). While you were watching the video, your web browser acted as a RDP (Remote Desktop) and a keylogger which provided me access to your display screen and webcam. Right after that, my software gathered all your contacts from your Messenger, Facebook account, and email account. What exactly did I do? I made a split-screen video. First part recorded the video you were viewing (you've got a fine taste haha), and next part recorded your webcam (Yep! It's you doing nasty things!). What should you do? Well, I believe, $1900 is a fair price for our little secret. You'll make the payment via Bitcoin to the below address (if you don't know this, search "how to buy bitcoin" in Google). BTC Address: bc1qe2eja8ru76 lzlzz6q32suwh ddlpcrcat933nsg (It is cAsE sensitive, so copy and paste it) Important: You have 24 hours in order to make the payment. (I have an unique pixel within this email message, and right now I know that you have read this email). If I don't get the payment, I will send your video to all of your contacts including relatives, coworkers, and so forth. Nonetheless, if I do get paid, I will erase the video immidiately. If you want evidence, reply with "Yes!" and I will send your video recording to your 5 friends. This is a non-negotiable offer, so don't waste my time and yours by replying to this email. Any

I’ve received a few of these over the years. They are obvious frauds, there isn’t anything specific to any one person in the wording, and it assumes that I have a webcam and am using it while visiting visiting porn sites. It also assumes I am married, and that if I am, that I have been involved in activities that my wife would not approve of.
That’s a lot of hurdles. The people who came up with this one are just plain stupid. Their lack of sophistication in every way should send up a huge red flag with anyone. We are all offended when someone attempts blackmail, it is deplorable.

I got a bitcoin blackmail email for the first time today - looks to be a pretty common tactic. While the subject was disconcerting ("I have a compromising video of you that I will send to all your email, facebook, messenger contacts"), the scary part for me was that the username and password they said they had was actually VERY CLOSE to my current password on my email and several sites, and I so rarely enter my pw, that I wasn't sure if it actually still was my pw on some sites.

I was worried that if they had my email pw, then they also may have seen all my emails from other applications (facebook, credit cards, banks / investment websites, etc). Luckily the pw they told me they had wasn't my exact pw on my email, but I quickly changed that to a much more complex pw, along with all my other pws that were remotely similar.

From the sound of this forum, it looks like it's probably from some old website that got hacked at one point, and my current information is not at risk (knock on wood). This has been enough to open my eyes to now actually use dIfF1CUlT passwords...they're just so hard to keep track of so I always need to go through the "forgot password" loop anytime I log on to something that I don't use daily. Hopefully there's a way to stop these people! My email was from Araldo Hope - had an " address of qwxmariceax. His bitcoin address was bc1qmwgfx z9pkc8ujxxy0r2q8h8e xl3kph80dpln0z. Regulate bitcoin so these guys can be tracked!

Just received one of those extortions wanting 1900. I also do not have a webcam and have never been on a porn site. With people dying from the coronavirus you would think these hackers would take a rest
