If you don’t usually file a tax return, or didn’t file a return for 2018 or 2019, you might not know you could qualify for an economic impact payment. You might be one of the nine million people getting a letter from the IRS letting you know how to register on their website to claim your payment. The new deadline for filing is November 21, 2020.

 

If you get this letter from the IRS, it’s legit. Go only to the IRS’s real website at IRS.gov/EIP, or call them directly at 800-919-9835 to register to claim your payment. You only have until November 21. But if someone claiming to be from the IRS calls, emails, or texts about helping you get your stimulus payment, that person is running a government imposter scam on you. Hang up, and don’t respond to or click on any links in texts or emails.

 

Why? Because the IRS will not text, email, or call you about your economic impact payment. And they’ll never ask you to pay a fee to get your money.

 

Visit the IRS’s website to find out more about stimulus payments. And be sure to tell the FTC if someone pretending to be from the government contacts you.

I used the non-filers tool and claimed my son as a dependent. I received the $1,200 check in the mail but not the additional $500 for my son. A month or 2 later I received a letter saying my payment of $500 had arrived, but I did not receive the check so I waited thinking maybe it was just delayed. Then a few days later I got a call from an employee at Eglin Federal Credit Union and he informed me that someone stole my payment, forged my signature, and deposited it into their account they have with that bank. AFTER one of the employees had already deposited my check for the man/thief, they noticed that the signature was not identical to my own which they already had in their system from prior endorsements. The following day I went to the bank to sign a affidavit form so they could file a police report for fraudulent activity and forgery. They then gave me copies of the check that had the forged signature of my name AS WELL AS HIS SIGNATURE. So I tried to contact the IRS by phone with hopes that it could be resolved and that they would send another payment for my son, but could never get through to speak with the right person. Finally I wrote a detailed letter of exactly how it all happened, including all copies of the check when it was signed and deposited as well as names of the employee, their contact number and extension, my cell number, email address, and full home address, I even sent it as priority mail!! I STILL have not received a letter or my payment for my son!!! Been waiting so patiently, ***PLEASE HELP WHAT SHOULD I DO????***

You can report that directly to the IRS at www.Identitytheft.gov.

IdentityTheft.gov is the federal government website for reporting identity theft. When you report at the site, you can send the IRS Identity Theft Affidavit directly to the IRS, and create the FTC Identity Theft Report.

You can use the FTC Identity Theft Report to fix other identity thieft caused. For example, if he opened a bank account or used your information for other reasons.

I am 100% I filed a claim early October And I verified my email befor submitting on the Freefiller website but no matter what I do when I check status it says theres no application sent from the account I login to. That its possible it could be Identy theft.. but am 100% sure I filed that application.

I still didn't receive my first stimulus check.I did apply for it and gave my bank information. However, when I enter my ss#, dob and home/mailing address your website says it doesn't have matching info.

When I filed my claim using the non filers tool this April I accidentally clicked the box for dependent which I am not. Does this automatically disqualify me for the stimulus even though I am eligible? Can someone please help?

I had filed through the non-filer payment tool on the website. I was accepted on 10/5/2020. I did file with the direct deposit information. When I check the website for through the Get My Payment tool it says nothing. I was just wondering how I find out if I am getting it and when? I am behind on my rent and utilities and I'm struggling. I got the letter e filed for 2019. I have no income husband on disability. He received his and i guess im not eligible. 7 weeks and still says no information. I called the number on letter twice for update and they tell me to call back next week. So no help there. Im at the point if it comes it comes. Not tracking it anymore.

I filed non- filer about a month and half ago and recieved letter few weeks after and called and talked to IRS and they said I would be getting a check . That I had given wrong address I was a digit off from my address but it shouldn’t matter cus I gave my bank account and routing no# but there’s no change on website when I type in my info doesn’t tell me status or anything?

The IRS NON FILER'S TOOL IS NOT WORKING!! It will not allow me to electronically send my info and says NOVEMBER 20 2020 was the last day!! I have been trying since 3AM on November 21st!!! I had many problems a couple months back and almost forgot to send my info...now I remembered and I cant send it!!!

I'm a 46-year-old man who claims himself only on his taxes and I've never received a stimulus check the IRS said somebody had claimed me and my 2018 taxes which is not true after sending them a duplicate copy of my 2018 taxes two weeks later I finally got my federal refund sent to me for 2020 and still have not received a stimulus check yet when I called the IRS they said that somebody tried to claim me and that's why I supposedly was not eligible but now I still haven't received a stimulus check and I'm hurting bad for money I don't know what to do

I filed with the non filers Sep 27th I got a e mail a day or two later saying my refund was accepted. I have not received a stimulus check and my payment status says not available. Its been 3 months so im guessing I won't be receiving a stimulus check

Originally with the Get my Payment tool I was advised a check would be mailed to me in France by July 31. I never received it and in October, I filed the non-filers form and received an email saying it was accepted. As of today I have not received the EIP or notice 1444 from the IRS. I dont have to file taxes because I'm on ssi so I used the non filers took. But I only put myself down at the time because I was told the government knew if I had a child. So I ended up not getting the 500 for her. I was told I cant amend the non filers return so how am I supposed to get her on the 2nd stimulus check.?

Okay so my roommate for the past 2 yrs has claimed me on her taxes for 2018, 2019 either as a defendant or married spouse considering I am over the age of 16, or 18 yrs old. When she received the 1st sitmlas check she got $1,700 instead of $1,200 and I'm pretty sure she can't file on her 2 girls because one of them is with the biological father and her other daughter got apodated out/her rights was taken.. so who would she have gotten $1,700 (adding $500) instead of her getting $1,200.. I am only trying to figure out all this considering she claimed/filed me on her 2018, 2019 taxes.
